East Gippsland residents have been handed a financial reprieve

East Gippsland Water has announced that it will not apply the annual increase in water tariffs until the beginning of 2021; one of several initiatives to help ease financial pressure on residential and business customers impacted by the recent bushfires and the coronavirus pandemic.

East Gippsland Water usually updates its water service and usage charges on July 1, but this has been deferred for 6 month to January 1 next year, and then they will only increase by the rate of inflation.

Another measure by the institution will be to extend financial assistance available to residential customers to now also cover small business customers, which includes a range of assistance programs in payments options and financial counseling.

East Gippsland Water’s Managing Director, Steve McKenzie, said the company's aim is to help in any way they can in these unprecedented times.
