Wind-back of rural restrictions tonight confirmed

Acting Premier James Merlino has confirmed that the easing of restrictions for regional areas like Gippsland are as he announced yesterday.

Tonight at 11.59pm for regional Victoria:

The five reasons to leave home will be removed and there is no restriction on travel in rural Victoria. However, there is no travel to Melbourne unless for one of the five permitted reasons to leave home and if you have to travel to Melbourne for one of these reasons you must abide by the metropolitan restrictions.

All can return to work, with some restrictions on particular services.

All retail can open, but must have a QR code system in place and are asked to check the ID of every person they serve. QR codes will also be introduced to supermarkets.

Seated service is available for up to 50 people per venue (eg cafes, clubs and restaurants) with the one per four square metre rule to be applied. Group sizes of no more than 10. Electronic gaming remains closed.

Organised outdoor junior community sport will be permitted, training only for adult organised sport.

Non organised outdoor recreation (eg round of golf or bowls) group sizes to a maximum of 10 and up to 50 per venue.

Religious gatherings for up to a maximum of 50 people dependent on one per four square metre rule.

Funerals indoors and outdoors have a 50 person limit (children under 12 months not counted). Weddings indoor and outdoor limit of 10 (including celebrant and couple getting married).

Social public outdoor gatherings are allowed for up to 10 people (eg local park). Gatherings at homes not permitted unless intimate partner or your nominated single bubble visitor.

Face coverings must be worn at all times indoors, except at home and outdoors when in groups.

Country schools resume to face to face learning for all levels.

Creative studios, 50 per venue with maximum group sizes of 10 subject to abovementioned density limit.

Personal care (eg hairdressing, beauty, nail salons etc) open for services where a mask can be worn.

Accommodation bookings permitted for single households only, or intimate partners. No bookings for metropolitan people unless for one of the strict authorised reasons.

Real estate inspections and auctions open with a maximum of 50 people.

Visitors to aged care only for end of life reasons and those delivering essential items (eg food).

No visitors permitted into hospitals except for end of life reasons, support partner for a birth, or parent accompanying a child.
