Sales of Valley musician's song to help break down mental health stigma

Anything that helps break down the stigma around mental health is a good thing. Too many people suffer in silence with mental illness. So anything that supports initiatives to reduce this stigma, while enjoying the music of a young Aussie singer, is a good thing.

Thomas Headon has just released his song Friends, with 50 percent of download fees going to LIVIN.

LIVIN encourages people to connect, support and encourage one another to talk about their feelings and challenges because It Ain’t Weak to Speak.

Thomas is an amazingly gifted singer-songwriter who has been busy in his home studio writing and recording original songs about life, relationships and the world around him. His live shows, including busking in Melbourne and on Phillip Island, includes covers of many popular hit songs.

This mix of songs provides the 18 year old from Traralgon with a repertoire that can be tailored to suit any performance.

Thomas chose to donate half of his song revenues to LIVIN because "too many young people around me don't speak up when they have a mental illness, or are just stressing out because of the pressures of life."

"If this little gesture can help reduce the stigma about speaking up when things get tough, I'm keen to do it," Thomas said.

Friends is available as a download from Bandcamp for just $1.

You can also find his music on YouTube and Soundcloud.

Thomas is also on Instagram and Facebook.
