Traralgon Pride In Tennis Event On Eve Of ATP Traralgon Challenger

The Traralgon Tennis Association has a number of exciting events coming up this month, headlined by the ever popular Latrobe City Traralgon ATP Challenger and a Pride In Tennis day.

The Traralgon Challenger is one of the biggest events on the Gippsland sporting calendar, with 32 of the ATP Tour's best players fighting it out for $50,000 in prize money.

Past winners include highly ranked Australians Jordan Thompson (2016/2018), Matthew Ebden (2015) and John Millman (2014).

The Challenger will this year be preceded by a Pride In Tennis event to be held on Sunday October 20, which aims to celebrate diversity, inclusion and LGBTIQ participation in Tennis.

It will be the second pride event the association has held, after the inaugural event held at the same time last year saw guest speakers such as Jelena Dokic and Hannah Mouncey attend in support.

Traralgon Tennis Association Manager Susie Grumley says the club would love to see as many people as possible on the day.

"We're really happy and excited to be confirming our Pride In Tennis day and reaffirming our inclusion and diversity values that we have at Traralgon Tennis" Grumley said.

"I believe it probably is helping a lot of people that we don't know about to feel more comfortable coming to our club, and to other sporting clubs around Gippsland".

Grumley also heaped praise on the North Gippsland Football Netball League for their work in promoting LGBTIQ inclusion in local sport.

More details on the Pride In Tennis day which is set to be held on Sunday October 20th can be found on the Traralgon Tennis Associations' Website and Facebook page .
