Hope Restart Centre nearing completion

The Hope Restart Centre being built at Lucknow will open its doors early next year.

Building work is nearing completion on the residential drug and alcohol rehabilitation centre that will operate in association with Odyssey House Victoria.

“Work on the 3000-square metre building will be finished by the end of this year," according to Gippsland MP Darren Chester.

"The internal fitout of the east and west wings and the chapel/lounge area is complete, while work in the kitchen and offices is underway.

“After that, there’ll be lots of activity outside, with landscaping to be done, courtyards, external roadways and paving to be finished, and the recreation areas to be complete," Mr Chester said.

When fully operational the Centre will provide for 112 residential rehabilitation clients for treatment of alcohol and drug addiction and assistance for families.

The federal government contributed $3.8 million to construction while the state government and businesses will help meet operational costs.
