Chief executive of Latrobe Regional Hospital, Peter Craighead is urging people not to clog the system by being tested unnecessarily.
"It's important to remember at the moment that people are only screened if they meet key criteria of flu like symptoms - cough, fever, shortness of breath, breathing difficulties; within 14 days of international travel; or if you've had contact with a confirmed case of corona virus.", Mr. Craighead said.
He also warns of people in the community going to the hospital if they don't have to. "People should stay away from hospitals. In terms of people visiting hospitals, it's important you minimise the need to visit, so we can protect our vulnerable groups."
