Traralgon's Josh Charlton has reached his best ranking yet in the US

Traralgon tennis player Josh Charlton has risen dramatically up the US Intercollegiate Tennis Rankings, after a strong season during the fall.

The big serving left-hander who plays for The University of Oregon, was ranked at 115 in the country for singles and 45 in doubles with partner Ty Gentry prior to the season.

After strong showings including taking out the recent doubles title at the ITA Northwest Regional Championships, Charlton has soared up the rankings to enter 2020 ranked 8th in doubles and 15th in singles across the nation.

Charlton defeated 5 ranked singles opponents during his fall season as he went 10-4, but impressively three of those losses came against top 5 ranked players in the country.

In doubles he and Gentry went 7-2, with their two losses coming to duos ranked in the top 13 nationwide.

His young college career has been impressive, winning 83 percent of his 24 singles matches thus far, while he sits just under 67% in doubles matches from 30 appearances.
