Bunyip bushfire recovery still needs help from across Gippsland

A call is going out from the Tonimbuk recovery centre for more volunteers from across Gippsland and the Latrobe Valley to help rebuild after the March bushfires in the Bunyip area.

Eric Bishop says some farmers lost everything and can't get their livestock back from agistment until they have new fences.

"A lot of tree litter... dangerous trees that have fallen down need clearing up... and fence lines so that farmers can rebuild their fences," Mr Bishop said.

"I guess people are just struggling to get back on their feet.

"Volunteers with skills are welcome with open arms, but those without skills are equally as welcome. There are all sorts of jobs to do."

The recovery centre at the Tonimbuk hall can be reached on 5629 8571. It is open seven days a week.
