An advice message for the community

From the Bairnsdale Incident Control Centre

The bushfire at the Alpine National Park west of Wulgulmerang has increased fire activity and is not yet under control. The bushfire is travelling from the Alpine National Park in a north -easterly direction towards the Limestone Road.

Smoke will be visible in the area.

Firefighters are responding to this fire, working along the Limestone Road strengthening the control line.

Aircraft are overhead monitoring fire activity and supporting with water bombing as required. The Alpine National Park is closed.

An Advice message has been issued for this fire.

Fire activity that has increased overnight in state forest, approximately 20 kilometres northeast of Tabberaberra.

This fire is creating a significant amount of smoke.

Ground crews are on the scene, supported by water-bombing aircraft and heavy machinery.

There is also increased fire activity within containment lines approximately 10 kilometres west of Buchan South, north of Wattle Hill Road.

Ground crews and aircraft are on site.

Across East Gippsland, firefighters are working to contain eight fires and strengthen control lines.

With today’s fire danger rated as very high, it’s important for the community to remain vigilant.
